Cornwall Electric is upgrading to Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) meters to better serve you and our community. AMI meters measure electricity usage—just like current meters—but send that information automatically and securely, eliminating the need for manual readings and enabling faster, more reliable service. They will improve how Cornwall Electric monitors and responds to its system, including restoring power more quickly during outages.
With AMI meters, you will have clearer insight into your electricity use, helping you better understand when and how you use energy throughout the day.
The upgrades will start in late 2026 and are expected to be completed within 5 years. Customers will be notified in advance of their installation dates. Throughout the upgrade, your billing will remain accurate, and your service will continue as usual.
